We extend a sincere WELCOME to you and your family. It is our prayer that a visit to Memorial Heights Baptist Church will initiate or enhance your personal relationship with Jesus Christ. If you do not have a church home and live in Claremore or the surrounding area, we invite you to unite with us in fellowship and service. If you have any questions concerning a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, or church membership, or desire more information about our church, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I can be reached at the church office (341-5952) and would love the opportunity to visit with you.  Our office hours are 9:00 am until noon and 1:00 until 4:00 pm, Monday through Thursday.  May God guide you as you seek His will in finding a church home.

Being a part of Memorial Heights has been one of the most fulfilling experiences in my years in the ministry. Worship is such an essential part of our life in Christ and it is my privilege to be a part of pointing people to Jesus. It is my prayer as you enter the sanctuary of God, you experience the fact that God loves you and He desires that you have a personal relationship with Him. Not just in a one-time event - salvation, but by daily walking and living in His will and His strength.

A little about who I am.

Born and raised in Tulsa. A proud Central High School Brave. I grew up attending Immanuel Baptist Church of Tulsa. Under the conviction of the Holy Spirit, the preaching ministry of Dr. Eugene Enlow and the guidance of my father, I came into an personal relationship with Jesus Christ. As a youth I felt the call of God into the full-time ministry. As a result, I attended Oklahoma Baptist University, GO BISON! While attending OBU, I met and married Marcy Gunnels, the joy of my life. The Lord continued to lead and guide through the years and I entered the full-time ministry of music at First Baptist Church of Mission, Texas on December 1,1981. Mission was such a wonderful place to learn what it takes to be a minister and to invest in the lives of others. In July of 1990, God moved Marcy and me to First Baptist Church of Garfield, Arkansas. The Lord continued our growth in Him as well as providing a wonderful son, Michael. In November of 2000 God brought us to Memorial Heights Baptist Church. God is continuing His plan for my life while serving Him here. I praise the Lord for our Choir and I thank you for daring to go outside the box and do some pretty amazing things. I also praise the Lord for all who help me lead in the worship services; your faithfulness and devotion to Christ keeps me going. Through every challenge God has been faithful to provide exactly what is needed, when it is needed. I pray we will continue to follow His leading and His way.

I enjoy wood working and home remodeling (Marcy’s glad of that), fishing at Roaring River State Park in Missouri, traveling, and going to Branson MO. My favorite foods are Steak and Mexican, although my favorite restaurants in Oklahoma are Gripado’s, Olive Garden & The Cheese Cake Factory. My favorite Mexican food place is in Mission TX. Taco Ole! If you don’t know that I like Dr. Pepper, you haven’t been paying attention. I also enjoy talking with Michael about music and choir stuff; son you’re amazing. One of my other favorite things to do is take the SAMs and SALs of Memorial Heights on trips of any kind. Most of which ends up at a restaurant. You all are so much fun.

I hope you know that I want to encourage everyone to invest yourselves in the praise of our Lord, because praising Him is one of things that will last when this world has past.  For we will continually praise Him before the throne, when we enter into an ever deeper fellowship with Him in heaven.

PraiSing Him,

Phil Womack

Bob Howell - Minister of Preschool and Children
E-mail Bob

I am blessed to be serving our Lord here at Memorial Heights as Preschool/Children’s Minister.

I have been on staff since February 2007.  I have been a member here at MHBC since 1989, and have been working and teaching children most of this time.  In the summer of 2006 the Lord called me to serve Him full time.  At first I tried to ignore it.  That didn’t work because God kept reassuring me He was in control.  I came up with a lot of excuses and God kept saying He was in control.  I already knew you couldn’t run from God but I tried to and failed.  I came to my senses and surrendered to serve Him full time wherever and whatever He wanted me to do.  God has blessed me by placing me in the very church I was already attending.  God was and still is in control.

I have also been blessed with a wonderful wife and family.  I have been married to Elizabeth for 23 years.  We have 3 children: Daniel, David, and Allison who are active in our youth department.

The Preschool & Children’s Department here at MHBC is a fun and exciting place for children to learn and grow in the Lord.  If you don’t have a place to Worship, I encourage you to come and Worship with us at MHBC.

Bio-

I thought I also would take a little bit of time to share some details of my life. To say that i was raised in church is kind of an understatement in my case. My dad was a pastor for many years, so consequently, I spent a lot of time as a kid running the halls of a church. While dad was serving as pastor of FBC Beaver, I begin to experience the Spirit tugging on my heart, and at the age of seven, gave my heart to Christ (or for all our calvanist friends, God saved me...haha). During my freshman year in high school, the Lord moved us to FBC Checotah. Checotah offered new challanges, but I can look back at this time as one of the most spiritually fullfiling times in my life. I graduated from CHS and enrolled at NSU in Tahlequah. I found my place of service there at the Baptist Collegeiate Ministies. I started playing on the praise band at the BCM, did Bible studies and missions, and it was awesome. I also met my wife Amy while at the BCM and got married during my sophmore year. After Amy and I were married, life changed in a big way. One, I had to get a job, and two my wife got pregnant with our daughter Lillie. Life was hectic, but God truly remained faithful. I served part time at a small church for just over two years until Amy graduated, and we moved to her hometown of Skiatook. It was during our time in Skiatook that we got preganant, again. I graduated college, worked a few jobs, but most importantly, begin to feel a call to full time ministry. I worked up a resume and made it available, and God answered with Memorial Heights! I firmly believe that God has some great things in store for MHBC, and I look forward to being a part of His plan here.
